Analysis of Primary Documents

New York:  The Colonial Laws of New York - We learned that the documents gave the laws that the Duke were to pass and enact on the people of New York. It also gave him the charters that were essential in order to create the colony of New York.
New Jersey: Magna Carta - We learned that the King gave English colonists in the New World the same rights as the people in England with this document. Here, it required King John of England to give them specific liberties. The Magna Carta was written and agreed upon in 1215.

Pennsylvania: Frame of Government - We learned that the frames of government were basically the outlines of Pennsylvania’s laws, freedoms, and government. It gave the freedoms and privileges that each citizen had a right to. It also outlined the way the government was going to work, like the levels of power and who had them.
Carolinas: Fundamental Constitutions - We learned that the government split up the lands among the colonists. These documents also decreed things like when there would be General Courts and what they would do.
Massachusetts: Mayflower Compact - We learned that the people of early Massachusetts really wanted to be together, equal, and united under God and the King of England. The document detailed what the colonists wanted the colony to be - a civil body politic.
Rhode Island: Charter of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations - We learned that this charter gave Rhode Island religious freedom. Also, it is a self-governed government in Rhode Island. 
Connecticut: Fundamental Orders of Connecticut - We learned that it allowed all white male property owners to vote, and it limited the power of the governor. These documents also explained about things like when there would be General Courts and what they would do to help benefit the colony.
Delaware: Frame of Government - We learned that William Penn, a Quaker, wanted to create a government where the government helps the people and laws rule the land. According to this document, the government is free under the people, and the people abide with the laws of the colony.
Maryland: Toleration Act - I learned that this mandated religious tolerance in Maryland. Because this colony was founded to be a safe haven towards Catholics, they passed this act so that there would be religious tolerance between people in this colony.
Georgia: Magna Carta -  We learned that the King gave English colonists in the New World the same rights as the people in England with this document. Interestingly, this document outlined SPECIFIC liberties instead of general ideas. For example, it stated that a widow would not be forced to marry if she does not choose to. (There were a few exceptions though.) The Magna Carta was written and agreed upon in 1215.
Virginia: Charter in 1609 - We learned that this charter was given specifically to the Virginia Company of London after they petitioned for this. This document included hundreds of names so they could take a voyage and settle Virginia. Also, it included details, like how much profit England would earn.
